I think violence happens because some people don’t know how to control their emotions and it just gets out of hand. Or people feel like it’s the only choice they have.

They just want to have power
Violence continues every day over stuff like streets. People are repping streets, “that’s my street.” I think they just want to have power.

They take their anger out
I think violence happens because people want to get their revenge on other people. They want to prove that they are big and tough and can take anyone down. They want to make people feel how they felt before. They show emotions through violence, and will take their anger out using violence.

Video games and media
I think it’s things like videogames and the media. You see violence on TV, and a lot of people want to be what they see on TV. I think that plays a part. If celebrities were to be more positive about what they say and do on TV, it would help reduce the problem of violence.

I think there’s a lot of violence because people don’t know different ways of dealing with their stress. So they find other ways such as being violent toward other people to take out their true feelings.

Jealousy
When it manifests, the violence is the product of what’s going on in the inside. Violence could start out as jealousy. It could stem from some teeny thing with a friend. They’ll say “I don’t like her because of her hair.” Or, “I don’t like him because he goes out with my ex-girlfriend.” It usually all uproots from jealousy. It doesn’t just stem out of nowhere.

Anger and rage
A lot of violence is because people have just angry rage. They cannot get what they want. And they take it out on each other, instead of finding peace inside of themselves first.
