"I think that part of that [i.e. dealing with setbacks] requires knowing that there are setbacks. Everything has setbacks in life, and this is one of those things. What I like to do when I first start working with kids and families is to make a picture of two people starting from Point A, and then have them at an endpoint over here, and showing that there are different paths people can take and they still get to the same endpoint. But there might be some ups and downs for one person, and for another person it might be a straighter line. But the point is that they both get to the same endpoint. So we predict that there will be setbacks. We let them know that is when they need our help the most, and to not feel embarrassed or ashamed, but really to know that it's oftentimes a part of the process of succeeding that there are setbacks, and we're here to help them deal with those setbacks."
