Interviewer : At what times did you find it beneficial to talk to Gavin about his weight, and at what times did you feel like it was better to remain silent and show, or lead by example?

Mom : If he was having a particularly difficult day, I knew that that was not the right time to approach him about his weight in any way. But I would wait for a right time- maybe a quiet time, or when we were alone together going somewhere in the car, or something like that. Waiting for just not when he was upset. Or if he had already had an encounter with kids at school that made him upset about it I might try to talk to him about it then, but really reading him to see what was the best time to talk to him about it.
