BILL:
My wife absolutely
blows a lot of my knowledge away. She's fantastic. When he was diagnosed,
the nurses and the doctors at the hospital were great in setting us up with
the resources so we could read about it and what not.
BILL: Remember the night, Di, we were sitting at 1:30 in the morning? We were sitting there in bed at 1:30 in the morning looking at diagrams of the heart. We finally said, "We got it. We figured it out."
DIANE: That was two years into it.
BILL: That was two years into it.
BILL: He was born with very little aorta, which is coarctation of the aorta, so that was one of the concerns, but his disease is hypoplastic left ventricle syndrome, which means he was basically born with no left ventricle. The three-stage repair creates in effect four ventricles from the two over the three-stage repair.
