Interviewer: What do you think other parents of children with asthma should know about the importance of advocating for their children?
Mother: I think the importance of advocating for your children, because you have to realize that they are your children, and they are not able to advocate for themselves. I think that parents should be aware that it is your right that your housing be healthy. The schools, to advocate you have to be able to go and make sure that where they are going to school is a healthy environment. There's so many dampness and molds in a lot of our schools in Boston because they're older schools. By advocating, you can actually make a difference, and there's organizations out there that will actually help you. And then my legislator - and this is another point where parents don't realize that we have a right-our legislators need to hear from us that we can advocate, we can tell them how they can pass laws to make a change so our children will be in a healthy environment. It's very important.
