INTERVIEWER: In school, has it been difficult to get teachers to understand that you have special needs because of your ADHD?
MICHAELA: I started advocating for myself. Maybe one or two of the teachers thought it was bogus, thought it was ridiculous, didn’t want to listen to me, but I kept on telling them, “Look, you know, I have accommodations. You have to, by law, allow me a certain amount of extra allotted time,” and then they eventually listened to me, but most teachers were like, “Oh OK, yeah, OK,” and just went along with it and didn’t seem to have an issue.
